The title of a "Sensational Alex Harvey Band" song may not be familiar to you, but that's the way I am looking at tomorrows Pro Am.
Whatever happens, I want to enjoy tomorrow and whatever it brings.
After all, I will be playing with the top two golfers at the club, as well as playing with someone who is trying to make it as a Professional in the tough world that is the sport of Golf.
It is one of the only sports going that due to the handicapping system should enable parity in performance and the chance for a mediocre golfer to "beat" the golfer of better ability.
There are in the world of club golf, those who use, or maybe abuse, the handicapping system to allow them to win competitions, with some fairly hefty prizes, when they are not actually being honest about their playing ability.
I hope that the "bandits", as they are known realise that they are cheating and spoiling it for every honest golfer, who are the majority!
Having been handicap secretary for a number of years I know that most golfers want to get their handicaps down and the Cat 1's are particularly keen to manage their handicaps.
It's just a few that "manage" their handicaps in a negative way that need to be tackled!
You, and more importantly, WE, know who you are.
Me, I'm really looking forward to playing with 3 golfers who don't have a negative handicap............A pro, a a plus 1 and a plus 2!!!
